Morayfield and Caboolture mums, dads, grandparents, friends and family are invited to the Morayfield Wellbeing Event being held as part of Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month at the Caboolture Sports Club on 31 May 2016.
Hosted by Women’s Health Queensland Wide, the free event aims to highlight the role that everyone has in creating a Queensland free of domestic and family violence, and is a great opportunity to get some information and tips on assisting children through the transition from childhood to adulthood.
In Australia, 1 in 6 women have experienced physical or sexual violence at the hands of a current or former partner and 1 in 19 men have experienced physical or sexual violence at the hands of a current or former partner.1
Event Organiser, Therese O'Brien says that we can help change the culture and attitudes in the community.
“This is our chance to help stop the domestic and family violence cycle, by creating a new generation with respect for and acceptance of one another; where domestic and family violence is not tolerated,” Ms O’Brien said.
The event will be opened by Mark Ryan MP, State Member for Morayfield and will feature speakers from the Youth Wellbeing Project, Guiding Adolescent Girls, Women’s Wellbeing Association, Powerhouse Programs, and Men’s Wellbeing Association.
Registration includes a free light lunch, tea and coffee, and displays from local businesses and organisations.
To register for the event, contact us on phone (07) 3216 0976.
This event is funded by the Queensland Government
